Youth Writing Summer Camps

The Appleseed Writing Project hosts annual Youth Writing Summer Camps!

All Appleseed Youth Writing Camps are held on the IPFW Campus* and include the following:

  • Writing in a variety of genres (poetry, story writing, narratives)
  • Engaging activities and collaboration (choosing a topic, sustained writing time, revising, editing, publishing and sharing)
  • Understanding the writing process (in a variety of writing contexts)
  • Learning in a supportive environment under the tutelage of experienced writing teachers (but without the concern of earning a grade)

 

ELEMENTARY CAMP
Open to students entering grades 4, 5 or 6 in the fall of 2018
June 11th – June 22nd
9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMP
Open to students entering grades 7, 8 or 9 in the fall of 2018
June 11th – June 22nd
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

HIGH SCHOOL CAMP
Open to students entering grades 10, 11, or 12 in the fall of 2018
June 11th – 14th; June 18th – 21st
12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Registration opens March 31st, 2018.

COST: $100 ($90 for returning campers and siblings)

A teacher’s recommendation and signature are required on the middle and high school camp registration forms. No previous creative writing experience is necessary for these camps—only a desire to write and a willingness to participate in the daily activities. 

*Transportation to and from campus must be provided by parents or caregivers. Students who utilize public transportation will be walked to their bus after each afternoon session by adult camp leaders.
